It all started in 6th grade. I was riding the bus home from school, and some dumb boy turns around and says "Allie you can play connect the dots with your face" Really, he said that. Even though revenge isn't the best choice, I did get him back. Acne and I were inseparable since the 6th grade. After two years of trying all the cleansers, moisturizers, face masks. spot treatments, everything--I think I have finally figured it out! I am seriously so excited to share this with everyone. It will really help you guys and save you so much time, and trouble!
What is an Essential Oil? It is a natural oil typically obtained by distillation and having the characteristic fragrance of the plant or other source from which it is extracted. (dictionary.reference.com) Most people run the other direction whenever they hear "skin" and "oil" in the same sentence. But, essential oils actually aren't oily. Honestly, they're more watery feeling. Bottom line, they wont clog your pores or anything so don't be scared (:
Lets start with acne. If you have acne, there are a few oils that will help you and that will dramatically improve your condition. I have tried so many chemicals and such that have actually made it worse.

Lets start with acne. If you have acne, there are a few oils that will help you and that will dramatically improve your condition. I have tried so many chemicals and such that have actually made it worse.
- Lavender. Apply a drop of lavender on a cotton ball and apply to your face. Lavender is one of two oils that I recommend using on your entire face. Lavender will improve oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin, acne, elasticity, and aging skin! Lavender inhibits bacteria and has anti fugal and antiseptic properties that will treat a variety of skin conditions. Also, lavender is a known relaxant that will calm your skin (and you!!) Be sure that your using a therapeutic grade essential oil that is safe for skin application. What I use and recommend is Young Living's Lavender Essential Oil.
- Geranium. Geranium is the second oil that can be applied with a cotton back to your entire face. Geranium like lavender attacks various skin problems, nourishes your skin, combats wrinkles and lines, and its a great gentle astringent. Personally, I haven't used Geranium, but after the great reviews and useful information I have picked up I definitely will give it a try and let you know how it works!
- Gentle Baby. Gentle Baby is a essential oil blend containing ten therapeutic grade oils made only by Young Living. It is great for acne, acne scarring and the elasticity of your skin. (also stretch marks) You can use this for your whole face or you can use a q-tip and use it more as a spot treatment.
- Tea Tree Oil. This is the b e s t t h i n g ever if your skin is not very sensitive. Do not use this over your face or around your eyes, it will burn! Use this on a q-tip and apply directly on your pimples. Experts say the tea tree oil has anti-inflammatory properties that can treat acne (as well as many other things like sunburn, insect bites, fungal infections, cold sores, and yeast infections) very quickly. I speak from experience when I say that Tea Tree oil will dry pimples right up!!
- Lavender Essential Oil- As I mentioned earlier, Lavender can be applied to your whole face with a cotton ball and will contribute to many problems like acne, and oily skin.
- Lemon Essential Oil. ( I use and recommend Young Living's Lemon Essential Oil) Lemon is especially good for oily skin. You can use a cotton ball and use 1-2 drops and rub it in the areas where your skin is oily.
- Clary Sage Essential Oil. This is one that I have not tried before, even though we do have it at my house. I read on www.my-natural-skin.com that Clary sage Oil has antibacterial, anti inflammatory, antiseptic and astringent properties and stimulates blood circulation to the surface of the skin. Use this the same as lavender and lemon for oily skin.
- Bergamot Essential Oils. This I do use and I highly recommend! It works so well! In the book "Aromatherapy: An A-Z", Author Patricia Davis explains why she often employs Bergamont Oil. "Bergamot oil's potent antiseptic properties help reduce the bacteria on your skin that cause acne breakouts, and the pleasant fragrance is generally welcomed by all patients." She recommends using 3-4 drops in a carrier oil such as coconut oil and using it as a daily moisturizer, but I actually use it on a cotton pad. It works fine both ways (:
- Rose Hip Seed Oil- Rose hip seed oil is high in omega fatty acids. The fatty acids are necessary for skin health, but our body doesn't produce it on its own. Rose Hip Oil also contains vitamin A, and lycopene, which both makes it high in antioxidants to moisturize and give your skin firmness needed for aging skin. You can use this as a moisturizer because usually Rose Hip Seed Oil can be purchased already in a carrier oil. Alternatives are Carrot Seed Oil, and Apricot Seed Oil.
- You can also use direct essential oils such as lemon, myrrh, purification blend (only by Young Living) and Lavender (of course!). Use a cotton ball and rub on areas you want to be improved!
- German Chamomile Essential Oil- put 2-3 drops in your hand and massage into skin
- Rosewood Essential Oil- 2-3 drops in hand. Massage into skin.
- Sandalwood Essential Oil-2-3 drops in hand, massage into skin.
- Geranium and Lavender Essential Oil, as you know.
