Hello! I wanted to start a new page on my blog dedicated to reviewing new products. The first thing I decided to blog about is the Clinique 3-Step Skin Care system. (I have the one for oily skin, which is #3) This was given to me about two and a half weeks ago, but I saw that you can get it from Sephora for $45.
Packaging/Contents
So whenever I first got it, there were three full size items and three travel size items and also a zipper pouch you can store the full size items in.
There was a full size and travel size bottle of liquid face soap, clarifying lotion (a toner) and dramatically different moisturizing gel.
First time use thoughts
I was excited to start using this. The liquid face soap worked really well. I wasn't wearing makeup the first time I used this, but my skin definitely felt cleaner after I washed and dried. Next I used the clarifying lotion. To be honest, it STUNK. It smelled like a mix between rubbing alcohol and witch hazel, in other words it smelled straight up like a bottle of chemicals. I was kind of afraid to use this on my face at first, because I had been using only natural products on my face for so long, but I toughed it out and I'm glad I did! After the toner, I let the dry and moved on to the "moisturizing" gel. I put moisturizing in quotation marks because it in no way moisturized. I wouldn't say it dried out my skin, but my face just felt dull.
How I feel about it after two weeks
I still use the 3-step skin care system every day, but I kind of moderated and do it my way. I wash my face with the soap twice a day. In the morning, if I am going to be wearing makeup that day, I will use the clarifying lotion and gel all over my face. But if its a day I wont wear makeup, I only use the last two steps on my forehead and chin, and I use coconut oil or sweet almond oil on my face and neck. I don't think its good to completely strip your skin of it's oils, because that will just cause your pores to over produce sebum. At night, after I wash my face, I use the clarifying lotion and coconut oil all over instead of the gel (:
This skin care system definitely does its job controlling oil. My face has not been "greasy" in weeks! I was hoping if the oil was under control then maybe my acne breakouts would lessen but that's not the case. My break outs are basically the same as always, not too bad but it happens (:
I hope this helps anyone thinking about using this! I would recommenced it to people who have oily skin. If you have a combination skin also, but you should not use it all over your face, only in the oily areas.
